Daniel Briskin
North London's Daniel Briskin combines his soulful vocals with an alternative take on R&B, as heard on his 2021 debut mixtape, forever was a feeling.
Born and raised in London, Briskin developed an interest in music from a young age, with his parents supplying steady dose of pop and classic rock. Learning drums and piano, he furthered his musical career by attending the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School, but it was his commutes to the school that drew him to R&B and hip-hop, listening to the likes of Childish Gambino and Frank Ocean. A place at BIMM followed -- which had seen artists such as George Ezra and Fontaines D.C. pass through its doors -- before Briskin dropped out to focus on his health.
Pouring his feelings into his songwriting, he quickly found a home with PMR Records -- which already had the likes of Jessie Ware and Disclosure on its roster -- with his emotionally charged lo-fi R&B. Briskin started working on new material with former Klaxons frontman Jamie Reynolds, and the pair gelling instantly with their approach to music-making. Briskin released the first fruits of his work with Reynolds in 2020, issuing the track "boy on the lake." A handful of songs followed before PMR released Briskin's debut mixtape, forever was a feeling, at the beginning of 2021.
