Basic Tape
Following in the footsteps of Daft Punk and Cassius, the Parisian duo Basic Tape serve up a stylish mix of disco, house, and pop. Sav Milot and Ben Emard met at sound engineering college, where they were in the same study group, and soon combined Emard's guitar prowess with Milot's knowledge of dance and pop styles. After gaining an online following for their bootleg remixes of songs by Lana Del Rey and Ellie Goulding as well as an official remix of Alesso's "Heroes," they collaborated with Mozambo and Julia Church on the single "Bright Side." Basic Tape released their rousing debut single, "Not Afraid," in late 2015. The following year, Emard and Milot signed to Parlophone and issued their second single, "So Good," which featured vocalist Danny Shah. For 2017's "No Matter," the duo teamed up with British singer Frances.
