Vaishali Mhade

The award-winning Indian playback singer Vaishali Mhade was born on August 21, 1984, in Khartalegaon, Maharashtra. She rose to fame in 2009, when she competed in the nationally televised singing competition Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009 and ultimately finished in first place. Two years later, she made her Bollywood singing debut with the 2011 film Damadamm!, singing the song "Hum Tum." 2015's Bajirao Mastani proved to be a bigger launchpad for her career as a playback singer, thanks to an award-winning soundtrack that featured Mhade's vocals on the songs "Pinga" and "Fitoori." Her performance of "Pinga" earned two nominations at the 2015 Mirchi Music Awards, with Mhade receiving nods for "Upcoming Female Vocalist of the Year" and "Female Vocalist of the Year." Although she lost in both categories, she was later named "Best Female Playback Singer" at the Screen Awards in 2019, thanks to her duet with Shreya Ghoshal on the song "Ghar more pardesia." Featured in the movie Kalank, "Ghar more pardesia" also earned Vaishali Mhade the award of "Best Female Playback Singer" at the Zee Cine Awards in 2020. Now a staple of the Bollywood film industry, she continued to contribute to popular soundtracks throughout the early 2020s. "Dhagan Aabhal," a song from the Raundal soundtrack, became a viral hit in 2023, earning more than four million views during its first month on YouTube and reaching Number 66 on the platform's Top 100 YouTube Music chart.
