Suigeneris

Bay Area rapper Suigeneris broke out at the tender age of 14 with his viral hit "Pull Up," before releasing three albums in the next three years. His melodic trap sound, with slick production, was all the more impressive for having been made entirely by himself at home in his bedroom. Suie, as he was often known, was born in 2003 in San Jose, California of Mexican heritage. He came from a musical family -- his father, uncles, and cousins were all musicians -- and grew up wanting to make music, too. Inspired by his father's favorite artist 2Pac, other rappers like Migos, Future, and Young Thug, and by other genres such as reggae and rock, he took his stage name from the Latin phrase meaning "of its own kind, unique." Suie first appeared on the scene in 2017 at the tender age of 14 with his viral hit "Pull Up." The incongruity of a little kid who looked like Kris Kross rapping about foreign cars, women, money, and drugs was amusing, but the quality of the production hinted that he could be more than a one-hit wonder. He fulfilled the promise a year later with his breakout hit "Now," featuring Lil Skies, which accrued millions of streams. That year he signed with Empire Distribution and released his debut album, The Cheat Code. Soon he adopted a new, instantly recognizable look with two-tone red-and-black hair. The album Suinami, featuring the single "Lucifer," followed in 2019, and Demons 'n' Angels, featuring "Brown Justin Bieber," in 2020. With each new release his popularity grew; fans could see Suie's talent evolving before their eyes as his sound matured, the production became slicker, and his flow got better.
