Simone Mendes

Born on May 24, 1984, in Uibaí, Bahia, Simone Mendes Rocha Diniz, or simply Simone, is a Brazilian singer and musician known for her contributions to Sertanejo and electronic forró music. She initially rose to fame as part of the electronic forró act Forró do Muído and later as one-half of the duo Simone & Simaria, also known as As Coleguinhas, with her sister Simaria Mendes from 2012 until 2022. Born into a humble family, her early life was marked by moving around Brazil due to her father's job as a diamond miner. Simone's musical journey began at the age of 14 when she followed in her sister's footsteps, joining the backing vocals for singer Frank Aguiar, a collaboration that lasted seven years. In 2007, Simone and Simaria joined Binha Cardoso in the band Forró do Muído, achieving widespread recognition in Brazil's Northeast, particularly in Ceará and Rio Grande do Norte. The sisters launched their independent career in 2012 under the management of Social Music, releasing their first album for download on their website. They quickly rose to national prominence with hits like "Quando o Mel É Bom" and "126 Cabides," with the latter reaching the top of the national charts. Their second DVD, Bar das Coleguinhas, recorded in Fortaleza with guest artists such as Wesley Safadão and Gabriel Diniz, and their third DVD recorded in Goiânia, cemented their reputation as one of the fastest-rising stars in Brazilian music. Simone & Simaria were at the forefront of a wave of female artists in the Sertanejo scene, participating in significant collaborations and joining as judges on The Voice Kids. Their single "Loka," in partnership with Anitta, became the most-played song in Brazil in 2017. After announcing the end of Simone & Simaria in August 2022, Simone launched her solo career in 2023 with the DVD Cintilante, featuring the single "Erro Gostoso."  In 2024, the track "Dois Tristes" from the live EP Cantando Sua História (Ao Vivo/Vol. 1) peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Brazil Singles Chart.
