Ryan Playground

Genevieve Ryan Martel is a multifaceted talent hailing from Montreal, Quebec. Over the course of the last several years she has carved her niche in the worlds of music and fashion with her work in electronic music as well as modeling. She is known by a couple of different aliases, including Ryan Playground and TDJ. Her music blends modern electronic music with echoes of her pop-punk influences as well as late 1990s trance nostalgia. Born into a family of classical musicians and politicians, Genevieve Ryan Martel's journey into music started at age 5 with her first drum kit. Around the same time, she took up skateboarding, leading to an embrace of skate culture both for its aesthetic and its vibrant music scene. She began modeling at age 13, adopting her middle name Ryan as her stage name. The name "Playground" stems from her connection with music, which she has always seen as a playground full of limitless possibilities. Her music projects, TDJ and Ryan Playground, reflect this adventurous spirit, the former focusing on electronic dance music while the latter incorporates the sound of her pop-punk roots. Signed to Ryan Hemsworth's Secret Songs label, Ryan Playground has already amassed a substantial body of work, from her upbeat single "I Won't Sleep on You," her 2016 album Elle, to her transformative work under the TDJ alias such as TDJ001 (2020) and the SPF INFINI series (2021-2023).
