PWNT

Combining whispery vocals and whimsical Baroque textures, PWNT's eccentric, groove-based psych-pop is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter Kosta Galanopoulos. His PWNT debut album, Days in the Summer, appeared in 2021. He traversed a borderline disco and more vintage, acoustic-balanced approach on the follow-up, 2023's Play What's Not There. Taking his stage alias from the Miles Davis quote "play what's not there," the Cocoa Beach, Florida native played drums in Hether and for acts including Adam Lambert and Magic Giant before emerging with his solo project. Signing with Nashville-based Acrophase Records, Galanopoulos released his first PWNT single, "Goodbye," in 2020. Recorded at various locations in Florida, Los Angeles, and his onetime base of New York City, the full-length Days in the Summer followed in mid-2021. After releasing an ethereal single, "Don't Look in the Mirror," with okaywill, PWNT returned with a greater focus on songwriting on the still '60s- and '70s-minded Play What's Not There in July 2023. It was recorded in Galanopoulos' Long Beach home studio with collaborators including David Davis (Frank Ocean, the War on Drugs).
