Locals Only Sound

Toronto duo Locals Only Sound cut their teeth as in-demand producers working with stars like Alessia Cara and Alejandro Sanz, the latter of whom earned them a Grammy Award. Also singer/songwriters, members Gray Hawken and Curtis Smith have won acclaim for their own sultry electronic pop releases like the 2018 mixtape Opus 1 and singles like 2020's "Move with Me" and 2021's "Easy." Friends since their school days in Toronto, Hawken and Smith bonded over music and skateboarding and began writing and recording together in high school. Their innate chemistry and talent were quickly apparent and by the time they were 18, they'd signed with 21 Entertainment Group to work as both artists and producers. Locals Only Sound debuted in 2018 with their own mixtape, Opus 1, and soon began racking up credits with Alessia Cara ("Growing Pains"), Ryland James ("Good to You"), and Olivia O'Brien ("Call Mom"). The duo's career received a major boost when their work on Latin star Alejandro Sanz's song "El Trato" helped his 2019 album #ELDISCO win a Grammy Award. Meanwhile, Hawken and Smith's own tracks continued to find new fans, especially 2020's "Move with Me" and the following year's "Easy."
