Kyle Clark
Kyle Clark is a country singer whose music is warm, easygoing, and full of heart and soul. His sound is based in contemporary country with a pop sensibility, and his lyrics are rooted in the familiar aspects of small town life -- romance, hard work, loyalty, and a cold beer and a good time on Saturday night. Clark was still in high school when he made his first video, for the single "Small Town Rivalry," and he made an impression nationally with "First Time Feels," a nostalgic number from his self-titled 2020 EP. He showed he could pull off a sincere romantic song with the 2021 single "Winning," and scored an authentic summertime hit with the anthemic "Hope It's Hot Out."
Kyle Clark was born and raised in Jefferson, Georgia, a small town roughly 20 miles from Athens. His parents were big country music fans, and he was singing along with George Strait and Alan Jackson around the house when he was two. He started carrying a toy guitar when he was four, and learned to play a real six-string when he was ten, but it wasn't until he was 13 that he began considering life as a musician. His first public performance was as part of the entertainment for the Miss Jackson County Pageant when he was in tenth grade, and in his senior year of high school, he cut his first single at a local studio, "Small Town Rivalry." He made a video for the song, using his friends from the school football team as actors, and the clip did well enough on social media that the song won local airplay, giving Clark his first taste of success. In 2017, during his freshman year at the University of North Georgia, Clark continued to write and record songs as he pursued a degree in business administration, and he competed in Atlanta in the Nash Next contest, a nationwide competition to find young, promising country talent. Clark didn't make it to the finals in Nashville, but he did land a spot opening for Darius Rucker, entertaining a large audience for the first time.
After touring with Rucker, Clark brought out an EP, Small Town Dreaming Big, which earned him airplay on one of Atlanta's leading country stations. He kept up a busy schedule of live work, playing clubs and honky tonks on his own and appearing at larger venues opening for Kane Brown and Randy Houser. By 2020, Clark had relocated to Nashville, and he landed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music. Later that year, he released a four-song EP, simply titled Kyle Clark, that included the song "First Time Feels," which was a minor success on radio and streaming services. Managing his own career and releasing his music himself, Clark gained momentum with 2021's "Winning," a love song using sports as a metaphor, and also put out the songs "Champagne in a Solo Cup" and "You Think You Know Someone." Clark's breakthrough came in May 2022 with the release of "Hope It's Hot Out." Using videos on social media to promote the tune, "Hope It's Hot Out" appeared in electric and acoustic mixes and was a success on streaming and radio, as well as making it into the Top Ten of the Country Digital Song Sales in its first week of release. The follow-up, "Bad Day to Be a Beer," was ready for fans in August 2022.
