Jensen Sportag
The two guys responsible for the fuzzy left-field bedroom R&B sounds of Jensen Sportag grew up on neighboring farms in tiny Cottontown, Tennessee. Austin Wilkinson and Elvis Craig started hanging out and making music together during high school, but college sent them in separate directions and they didn't start making music in earnest until they had moved to Nashville in the mid-2000s. Their early efforts included an untitled album in 2006 that featured vocals by Ariel Pink and the Sergio EP in 2008. These caught the ear of Cascine Records and their first EP for the label, Pure Wet, was released in 2011. After two years, and a slight change that took their sound in a smoother direction, the duo returned with the excellent 2013 album Stealth of Days.
