Hurt Valley
As Hurt Valley, Los Angeles-based indie musician Brian Collins mixes elements of '60s psych-pop, melancholy folk-rock, and contemplative lo-fi. The project's first album, Glacial Pace, saw release in 2019.
Collins came up with the moniker Hurt Valley following a trip to Death Valley in 2010. During the road trip, he and a friend stumbled upon a canyon clearing that held a vehicle graveyard filled with burned, vandalized, and bullet-strewn autos and trailers. When he returned to his home in Sugarloaf, California, he started Hurt Valley as a home recording project, working on it with more regularity after relocating to L.A. in 2014. When he had collected enough finished songs, he put together an album and signed with revered indie label Woodsist. Hurt Valley's full-length debut, Glacial Pace, followed in late 2019.
