Florian Sempey

Born in Bordeaux, France on January 29, 1988, Florian Sempey is an acclaimed operatic baritone. Because of his exceptional performances, he has become one of the most in-demand lyric artists on the international scene. He began piano and vocal studies at the Conservatoire de Libourne before continuing his vocal training at the Conservatoire National de Bordeaux. At the age of 21, he made his stage debut at the Bordeaux Opera, appearing as Papageno in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. Florian Sempey spent two years in the Atelier Lyrique, which is a young artists program at the Paris Opera. One of his first acclaimed roles was as Figaro in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville, which he performed at the Paris Opera, the Royal Opera House, the Rome Opera, and other venues as well as at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy. He has also appeared on many stages around the world in other roles including Pollux in Rameau's Castor et Pollux, Valentin in Gounod's Faust, and Alphonse XI in Donizetti's La Favorite. Florian Sempey has performed alongside some of the finest orchestras in the world including the Wiener Symphoniker, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de l'Opéra national de Paris, the Musiciens du Louvre and many others. His discography includes releases such as Gounod: Saint François d'Assise and Liszt: Légende de Sainte Cécile (2018), Donizetti: L'Ange de Nisida [Excerpts] (2020), Rossini: Figaro? Si! (2022), and Rameau: Nouvelle Symphonie (2022).
