Charlie Belle
Before they even graduated high school, the brother-sister duo of Charlie Belle had already released a pair of EPs and played SXSW for half-a-decade straight. The Bonds siblings -- big sister Jendayi, the singer/songwriting guitarist, and little brother Gyasi, the drummer -- were exposed to music at a very young age, attending the School of Rock and Girls Rock Camp near their childhood home of Philadelphia. They practiced by playing Motown, funk, reggae, and classic rock, styles that have infused a little soul into their take on '90s alt-pop and Brit-pop. Once the family moved to Austin, Texas, the siblings decided to officially form the band, naming themselves after their great-grandmother. In 2015, as their exposure grew, they released their debut EP, Get to Know (with Zoe Czarnecki on bass), and follow-up, I Don't Want to Be Alone (with David Andersen filling in bass duties).
