Atlantic Records est créé en septembre 1947 à New York par Ahmet Ertegün et Herb Abramson. Retrouvez dans cette playlist les artistes qui ont marqué son histoire jusqu'à nos jours, à commencer par Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Deede de Sticks McGhee & His Buddies qui fut l'un de ses premiers succès (elle sera reprise par la suite par de nombreux artistes dont Lionel Hampton, Wynonie Harris, ou Jerry Lee Lewis). Atlantic va jouer un rôle déterminant dans l'essor du rhythm and blues, de la soul et du jazz dans les années 1950 et 1960 grâce aux signatures de Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Roberta Flack... Puis dans les années 1970, le label amorce un virage pop/rock avec Led Zeppelin, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Phil Collins, Stone Temple Pilots.
