Ziynet Sali
Exploring the spectrum of classical Turkish and traditional Greek rebetiko music in her early work, Turkish-Cypriot singer Ziynet Sali was born in Nicosia, Cyprus on April 19th, 1975, and lived in the UK briefly as a child, during which she obtained British citizenship. She returned to Cyprus in 1981 to attend high school before moving to Istanbul to study at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory. She cut her teeth as a singer on the live entertainment circuit before releasing her debut album Ba-Ba in 2000, comprised entirely of Turkish songs. Her second album Amman Kuzum – released by Zorba Müzik in 2004 – contained Greek songs while for her third studio album of 2006 she mixed it up with both Greek and Turkish language songs. During the late '00s she entered the world of TV and film, making her first film appearance in 2007 as a Greek singer in Son Osmanlı Yandım Ali. She also landed a recurring role as nightclub singer Şükran Alev in the Fox series Kartallar Yüksek Uçar. Her fourth album Herkes Evine was released in 2008 and her firth album Sonsuz Ol followed four years later. She has since released two more albums: No 6 (2015, DMC) and Yaşam Çiçeği (2021, DMC), with a string of singles following in 2022, including a collaborative track with Semicenk and İlkan Günüç titled "Bozulmuş Kalbim" and solo single "Aşk Nerede."
