My Own Victim
Influenced by hardcore and, to a small extent, rap, Kentucky's My Own Victim brought their brand of alternative metal out of the Midwest and onto the Century Media label in the mid-'90s. The group's lineup as of 1998's The Weapon consists of vocalist Vic Hillerich, guitarists Brian Omer and Jeff Toy, bassist Todd Conn, and drummer Sean Fitzgibbons, all but Fitzgibbons being founding members. My Own Victim debuted in the U.S. in 1995 with Burning Inside, which was followed in 1997 by No Voice, No Rights, No Freedom and in 1998 by The Weapon.
