Koyote

The Korean pop vocal trio Koyote started in 1998 when Shin Ji, Cha Seung Min, and Kim Goo stood out from the pack right away for having both male and female members, and for their distinctive dance moves. Their initial work made a splash, garnering them the New Artist Award at the 1999 Seoul Music Awards. They enjoyed a hit with one of their first singles, “Pure Love”, in 2000, but quickly shuffled their line-up for a variety of personal reasons, leaving Shin Ji as the only original member. None of that stopped Koyote from becoming one of the biggest K-Pop acts of their time. Their 2000 and 2002 albums, Passion and Phillip, each sold over a half-million copies and from 2001 to 2005 they won five Main Prize awards in a row at the Golden Disc Awards for the songs “Blue”, “Sad Dream”, “Emergency”, “Disco King”, and “Bingo”. They continued to work steadily into the next decade, continuing their line of hit singles with tracks like “Do You Even Love Me?”, “Return”, “Saying What I Said Over and Over Again”, and “Hollywood”. Into their third decade, they managed another charting single with 2020’s The Sea”.
