Gast Waltzing

Gast Waltzing, born August 13, 1956, in Luxembourg, is a multifaceted Luxembourgish composer, trumpeter, and music professor who has made significant contributions to both the jazz and classical music scenes. Starting his musical education at just seven years old, Gast Waltzing later expanded his studies to the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles and the Conservatoire de Paris, setting the foundation for a distinguished career. He became a professor at the Luxembourg Conservatoire in 1982, where he also founded the Jazz Department. Known for his jazz-oriented band Largo, Gast Waltzing has enjoyed international performances and produced albums like Fables of Lost Time (2003) and Long Journey (2005), blending intricate jazz melodies with classical undertones. His prowess extends into film and television, where he has composed for a variety of productions, showcasing his ability to create emotionally resonant scores. Among his notable works are scores for A Wopbopaloobop A Lopbamboom (1989) and George and the Dragon (2004). His contributions to music were recognized with a Grammy Award in 2016 for Best World Music Album, in collaboration with Angélique Kidjo and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg for Sings, marking a pinnacle in his illustrious career​.
