Feng Bian
Chinese pianist Feng Bian began studying piano at age six with Xiaolin Li, and later enrolled in the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Hanguo Yang. He also studied with John Perry at Colburn Conservatory of Music, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree and artist diploma, and worked with Peter Frankl at Yale School of Music, where he completed his Master of Music degree. Feng was awarded the the Elizabeth Parisot Prize at Yale. For his doctoral work, Feng has studied with Norman Krieger and Jeffrey Kahane at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music. He has performed as a recitalist and concerto soloist in China, the United States, and Europe, and he has performed with the Colburn Orchestra, the Culver City Symphony Orchestra, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. The winner of a Yamaha Scholarship in 2004, he also won the Parness Young Artists Concerto Competition and the Encouragement Award at the Sydney International Piano Competition. He has recorded for Naxos.
