A tribute to the record that helped lay the foundation for emo-pop, You Blew It pay homage to Weezer's stellar 1994 debut (known as the Blue Album) with the aptly titled You Blue It. While the album was appreciated in its day, rising to the number 16 spot on the Billboard charts, its earnest sensibilities and unabashed nerdiness would make it a touchstone for a generation of bands who took the gentle sounds of emo and amped them up with a little power pop flair. You Blew It's treatment of the songs like "My Name Is Jonas" shows their reverence to the original album; it doesn't stop them from putting their own spin on songs like "In the Garage" and fan-favorite B-side "Suzanne," which are reimagined in a softer, gentler light. While tackling material as beloved as this can be a quick road to disaster, You Blue It is a wonderful tribute to one of the '90s most iconic records.
