L’immense succès du single "Welcome to Jamrock" a placé la barre très haut concernant l’album du même nom de Damian Marley. Heureusement, tout ici – du cocktail progressif de reggae, de hip-hop, de trip-hop, de pop et d’esprit roots à la production impeccable de son frère Stephen Marley – s’avère à la hauteur des attentes. Damian se serait assuré un succès commercial en se bornant à répliquer les vibrations roots positives du reggae de son père. Il a préféré puiser dans le côté spirituel de cette musique et en actualiser le son pour le 21e siècle. Teinté de résonnances dancehall et de R&B contemporain, l’album est un melting pot qui s’écoutera aussi bien dans les rues de Brooklyn que dans les environs de Kingston.
