La suite des aventures musicales de Method n’est pas aussi épique que le précédent épisode. Principalement car il est impossible de récréer l’énergie et la faim des débuts, mais également puisque la production est ici principalement assurée par True Master, affilié Wu, mais aux ambiances radicalement distinctes de RZA présent cependant sur quelques morceaux, notamment au microphone.
La multiplicité des producteurs ne facilite pas non plus la cohésion sonore de l’édifice, Rockwilder, Erick Sermon ou encore Prince Paul venant compléter la liste des fournisseurs musicaux.
Sans oublier le brassage large dans les invités, puisant dans le logique avec Redman ou Mobb Deep, le ludique en la compagnie de Chris Rock ou encore Janet Jackson, voire l’absurde dans la personne de Donald Trump.
Et que le thème récurrent, à savoir le jour du jugement dernier, librement inspiré de Terminator 2 et plutôt tendance en ce début de nouveau millénaire, n’a rien de très réjouissant. Certains morceaux se tirent du lot, comme « Dangerous Grounds » ou « Judgement Day » mais l’ensemble semble bien trop prétentieux.
La collaboration pleine de sensualité avec D’Angelo « Breaks Ups 2 Makes Ups », jolie suite au titre en compagnie de Mary J. sur le précédent album, permet cependant quelque peu de sauver les ventes de l’album.
La réponse commerciale sera de manière stupéfiante relativement similaire au précédent opus, mais les critiques nettement plus tranchées, perplexes devant les 10 interludes pour 28 morceaux au total.
