« This Machine », 8e album studio officiel des Dandy Warhols, a été enregistré dans le courant de l’année 2011 à l’Odditorium, le studio-multiplexe-club des Dandy Warhols, avec Jeremy Sherrer, leur ingénieur du son et producteur de longue date. Selon Taylor-Taylor ce disque est "dépouillé, boisé et extrêmement centré sur la guitare." L’album a été mixé par Tchad Blake, célèbre ses collaborations avec les Black Keys, Blitzen Trapper et Pearl Jam. La pochette est l’œuvre d’un peintre originaire de Portland, dans l’Oregon, dénommé Hickory Mertsching.
