The Hurry and the Harm, the fourth studio outing from Ontario-based singer/songwriter and ex-Alexisonfire vocalist Dallas Green, looks to the past for inspiration yet keeps its feet planted firmly in the present, retaining its predecessor's penchant for melody and melancholy, while offering up an evocative, 12-song set that skillfully blends pastoral folk, suburban blues, and rusty nail-tattered Americana. Recorded at Nashville, Tennessee's Blackbird Studio, The Hurry and the Harm benefits from Green's tasty hooks, clever yet confessional wordplay, and the warm production of Little Hell producer Alex Newport, who infuses the collection with a winning, rustic ambience.
