Avis aux amateurs de Clapton : voilà que sort en édition Super Deluxe la compilation augmentée des meilleurs morceaux joués au Royal Albert Hall de Londres, en 1990 et 1991, déjà sorti à l’époque sous la forme d’une double LP de quinze titres. Slowhand avait enchaîné dans la prestigieuse salle de concert londonienne 32 concerts, dont 18 d’affilés - brisant son propre record - sous quatre formations différentes. Ce nouveau coffret de 47 titres, qui contient de facto trois-quarts d’inédits, se divise cette fois-ci en trois (la première édition se divisait en quatre parties), avec un premier disque “Rock”, le second “Blues” et le troisième “orchestral”. Des musiciens de haute-volée avaient accompagné Clapton à l’époque. On retrouve ici pour le premier disque Phil Collins à la batterie sur la reprise tout synthés dehors de Bob Marley I Shot The Sheriff et celle de Bob Dylan Knockin' On Heaven's Door, pour le second disque à la guitare Buddy Guy, Robert Cray et Jimmy, le grand frère de Stevie Ray Vaughan, qui décède en août 1990 dans un accident d’hélicoptère. Plus mitigée, la troisième partie avec le National Philharmonic Orchestra dirigé par Michael Kamen propose une version scintillante et très chargée de près de 10 minutes de Crossroads de Robert Johnson ou de Layla. Avis aux amateurs de Clapton : voilà que sort en édition Super Deluxe la compilation augmentée des meilleurs morceaux joués au Royal Albert Hall de Londres, en 1990 et 1991, déjà sorti à l’époque sous la forme d’une double LP de quinze titres. Slowhand avait enchaîné dans la prestigieuse salle de concert londonienne 32 concerts, dont 18 d’affilés - brisant son propre record - sous quatre formations différentes. Ce nouveau coffret de 47 titres, qui contient de facto trois-quarts d’inédits, se divise cette fois-ci en trois (la première édition se divisait en quatre parties), avec un premier disque “Rock”, le second “Blues” et le troisième “orchestral”. Des musiciens de haute-volée avaient accompagné Clapton à l’époque. On retrouve ici pour le premier disque Phil Collins à la batterie sur la reprise tout synthés dehors de Bob Marley I Shot The Sheriff et celle de Bob Dylan Knockin' On Heaven's Door, pour le second disque à la guitare Buddy Guy, Robert Cray et Jimmy, le grand frère de Stevie Ray Vaughan, qui décède en août 1990 dans un accident d’hélicoptère. Plus mitigée, la troisième partie avec le National Philharmonic Orchestra dirigé par Michael Kamen propose une version scintillante et très chargée de près de 10 minutes de Crossroads de Robert Johnson ou de Layla.
