Issued on Capitol in late 1964, School Is a Drag was the third LP issued that year by the Super Stocks, a studio group masterminded by producer Gary Usher. The 12 tracks live up to the sun-drenched, high-speed concept of the record without getting generic due to the cream-of-the-crop session musicians Usher employed, including Billy Strange, Glen Campbell, Leon Russell, Ray Pohlman, Hal Blaine, and Jerry Cole. With plenty of rare surf and hot rod tracks, this is an enjoyable, fun disc recommended to both collectors and casual listeners.
