Musiq Soulchild délivre des titres dignes de son premier album (Aijuswanaseing, 2000), sans artifices ni gimmicks de production rap, tels « Radio », « So Beautiful » ou « If You Leave » en duo avec Mary J. Blige. Cet aspect ne peut que plaire aux fans des débuts de Soulchild, avant le mega succès de Musiq. La voix de velours de l’artiste fait merveille, poussant parfois dans des aigus inaccoutumés, rappelant que Talib Johnson est un interprète majeur de la scène nu soul depuis ce début de décennie.
A contrario, d’autres adeptes du chanteur ne pourront que regretter un manque d’audace et d’inventivité dans un disque sans réelle nouveauté, après les pics de créativité du best seller Juslisen (2002), et du précédent album Luvanmusiq (2007).
