The third release from the two-time Grammy-nominated jazz flautist Sherry Winston is the charm. Life Is Love and Love Is You features 14 compositions from this stunning contemporary jazz artist and a few of her close friends. Those friends happen to be none other than the great saxophonist Grover Washington, Jr., reed and woodwind phenom Najee, guitarist Norman Brown, vocalist Jon Lucien, and Curtis Harmon doing what they do best. The love themes explored on five original songs penned and arranged by Winston provide a glimpse into the essence of her inspired playing. Technical precision and lyrical imagery abound on ten covers, including hits by Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and her major influence, flatist Hubert Laws. "Guatemala Connection" pairs Winston with Najee in what proves to be a real sonic happening while her perfect pitch and sweet melodies on "Your Silent Love" provides a stark contrast of Winston's exceptional techniques. This is one of her best works and should garner a loyal fan base for the energetic jazz flautist.
