C'est plutôt ironique de constater que Marilyn Manson, un artiste qui a maintenu en vie l'idée d'album conceptuel pendant les années 90, ait eu une influence plus importante en tant qu'artiste de singles, comme en témoigne la compilation Lest We Forget : The Best of Marilyn Manson. Alors que la plupart des LP de l'artiste ont été conçus pour être écoutés ensemble, leurs singles ont toujours distillé intégralement l'attitude et les idées sous-jacentes des albums. Lest We Forget comporte assez de succès de Marilyn Manson -- "Lunchbox" de son premier opus, le délirant "The Beautiful People", le glam "The Dope Show" et l'hommage à Faith No More "mOBSCENE" -- pour satisfaire les fans occasionnels ou les auditeurs qui n'ont jamais voulu admettre qu'ils aimaient ces tubes radio de rock alternatif de la fin des années 90.
