Authentique soprano colorature, Elizabeth Vidal n'est pas la première venue pour ce qui est de l'art lyrique. Cantatrice expérimentée, elle a travaillé avec les plus grands chefs d'orchestre, notamment à l'étranger, et partage cette activité avec l'enseignement en classe de conservatoire.
Né d'un projet assez fou d'adapter des thèmes connus pour un large public et de pousser la note à l'extrême limite de son timbre, le bien nommé L'Opéra Impossible voit la chanteuse endosser le rôle de la « Cantadora » et chevaucher des airs qu'elle maîtrise parfaitement. Il faut toutefois prévenir que les arrangements concoctés par Philippe Uminski sont assez éloignés du registre classique habituel et s'aventurent en territoire pop, rock ou electro.
Fort de cette prévention qui fera fuir les puristes, les onze morceaux qui composent le récital s'envolent dans les aigus, à l'instar du contre-sol final de la « Danse du sabre » du compositeur Aram Khatchatourian. Car Elizabeth Vidal ne craint pas d'adapter des thèmes orchestraux qu'elle plie à sa voix comme ceux des Quatre saisons de Vivaldi, la Symphonie n°40 de Mozart ou Le Lac des cygnes de Tchaïkovski, aux côtés des canons du genre lyrique que sont l'air de la « Reine de la nuit » (La Flûte enchantée de Mozart), l'Ave Maria de Schubert ou l'Aria en ré de J. S. Bach. Dans un style plus moderne, elle chante également l'air romantique du Concerto pour une voix de Saint-Preux. Avis aux amateurs.
