No thanks in part to the legacy (musical and not) of his siblings, Jermaine Jackson's skills as a songwriter, producer, and musician have been largely ignored by commercial audiences. His production work with several Motown groups (such as DeBarge and Switch) in the late '70s/early '80s helped to keep the label as an R&B powerhouse when the output of more well-known superstars was faltering to produce powerhouse hits the way they once did. Jermaine was also a mildly successful artist in his own right. This compilation covers a great deal of Jermaine Jackson's career as a solo artist at Motown, from his first hit (a cover of Shep & the Limelights' hit "Daddy's Home") to his last hits prior to leaving Motown for Arista -- they're all included. There's also the inclusion of some lesser-known material, most notably a collaboration with the legendary Mizell Brothers. Bonus points like this only help to solidify an already extremely thorough compilation on the prime years of an extremely accomplished but overlooked artist.
