Que de bons présages pour un disque qui se vendra logiquement à 3 millions de copies dans le monde et aura une influence indéniable sur la nouvelle scène soul, prenant le meilleur des maîtres qui ont façonné la soul d’aujourd’hui et lui assénant un sérieux lifting sonore. « Used To Love U » en est le parfait exemple, devenant le plus gros succès de l’album, en compagnie de la splendide ballade « Ordinary People ».
Les thèmes sont peu éloignés des lieux communs du genre, même si la collaboration avec Snoop Dogg sur « I Can Change » s’avère jouissive, le rappeur canin conseillant au jeune chanteur de modifier ses habitudes s’il souhaite conserver sa moitié. La violoniste attitré des rappeurs Miri Ben-Ari apparaît sur « Live It Up », hymne à la célébration de la vie.
