Diva by Diva finds Broadway star Judy Kaye paying tribute to her idols, singing songs that Carol Channing, Ethel Merman, Mary Martin, Barbara Cook, Gwen Verdon, Patti Lupone, Bernadette Peters, and Angela Lansbury made famous. The record contains 12 songs written by the likes of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Kurt Weill, and the results are generally spectacular. "The Big Parade," "Here's That Rainy Day," "Where Is the Warmth?," "Mr. Right," "What Makes Me Love Him," and "What Does He Want of Me?" are highlights, but Kaye's powerful voice remains utterly compelling throughout the entire record. It's a wonderful showcase for her prodigious talents.
