Trumpeter/flugelhornist Humberto Ramirez plays a set of ballads on this CD, while backed by a large string section and a four-piece rhythm section with Luis Marin on keyboards. The tempos are all quite slow -- nothing unexpected occurs -- and the result is that Ramirez often sounds like Chuck Mangione on a very lazy day. This background music is pleasant enough but quite uneventful and predictable, lacking fire or adventure of any kind.
