Régulièrement, Neil Young ouvre son coffre-fort et propose quelques belles archives inédites. Cette fois, l’affaire se situe à la fin des années 80. Enregistré lors d’une série de concerts donnés en 1987 et en 1988, ce superbe double album offre un coup de zoom sur la facette rhythm’n’blues du Loner, à l’époque de son album This Note’s For You. On est alors loin du country rock et plutôt proche de la soul rock sudiste. Epaulé par de nouveaux musiciens mais aussi des fidèles comme Frank Sampedro, Rick Rosas, Ralph Molina et Ben Keith, Neil Young propose sept chansons inédites : Soul Of A Woman, Bad News Comes To Town, Ain’t It The Truth, I’m Goin’, Crime Of The Heart, Doghouse et Fool For Your Love, sans oublier une titanesque version de plus de 19 minutes du grandiose Tonight’s The Night.
