Le premier volet de cette compilation est un best of classique, comprenant 21 titres emblématiques de Vanessa Paradis, depuis Joe le taxi jusqu’à Divine Idylle, en passant par des chansons tirées de sa collaboration avec Lenny Kravitz (Be My Baby), ainsi qu’avec Serge Gainsbourg le parolier (Dis-lui toi que je le l’aime). On retrouvera également son duo avec Mathieu Chédid (La Seine), une riche sélection de son album paru en 2018 (Les Sources), ainsi qu’un inédit intitulé Vague à l’âme sœur.
Mais c’est dans le second volet que se trouvent les véritables pépites de cette compilation puisqu’il comprend 18 titres rares, provenant de sources diverses et variées. Nous retiendrons avant tout le tropical et suave Week-end à Rome, en duo avec Étienne Daho (qui figurait sur le quatrième album de Nouvelle Vague en 2010). On retrouvera Daho dans la (tout aussi formidable) reprise d’Heures hindoues. Parmi les autres chanteurs présents dans ce Best of et Variations figurent Gaëtan Roussel (Tu me manques), Willy Deville (Stand y me), les Rita Mitsouko (Les Histoires d’A), ainsi qu’Iggy Pop (You Go to My Head, sur une musique de Dizzy Gillespie). Certains de ces duos sont tirés d’albums, d’autres de concerts. En solo, on entendra Vanessa Paradis chanter Le Baiser d’Alain Souchon et Du Bout des lèvres de Barbara. Ce double album rappelle enfin que le cinéma est indissociable de la carrière de Vanessa Paradis, comme le prouvent les chansons provenant des films Un Monstre à Paris d’Éric Bergeron et Maryline de Guillaume Gallienne. Et il se termine avec élégance et émotion, avec le duo Paradis/Jeanne Moreau, lors de l’ouverture du Festival de Cannes 1995 (Le Tourbillon de la vie, la chanson du film Jules et Jim de François Truffaut). © Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz

Le premier volet de cette compilation est un best of classique, comprenant 21 titres emblématiques de Vanessa Paradis, depuis Joe le taxi jusqu’à Divine Idylle, en passant par des chansons tirées de sa collaboration avec Lenny Kravitz (Be My Baby), ainsi qu’avec Serge Gainsbourg le parolier (Dis-lui toi que je le l’aime). On retrouvera également son duo avec Mathieu Chédid (La Seine), une riche sélection de son album paru en 2018 (Les Sources), ainsi qu’un inédit intitulé Vague à l’âme sœur.
Mais c’est dans le second volet que se trouvent les véritables pépites de cette compilation puisqu’il comprend 18 titres rares, provenant de sources diverses et variées. Nous retiendrons avant tout le tropical et suave Week-end à Rome, en duo avec Étienne Daho (qui figurait sur le quatrième album de Nouvelle Vague en 2010). On retrouvera Daho dans la (tout aussi formidable) reprise d’Heures hindoues. Parmi les autres chanteurs présents dans ce Best of et Variations figurent Gaëtan Roussel (Tu me manques), Willy Deville (Stand y me), les Rita Mitsouko (Les Histoires d’A), ainsi qu’Iggy Pop (You Go to My Head, sur une musique de Dizzy Gillespie). Certains de ces duos sont tirés d’albums, d’autres de concerts. En solo, on entendra Vanessa Paradis chanter Le Baiser d’Alain Souchon et Du Bout des lèvres de Barbara. Ce double album rappelle enfin que le cinéma est indissociable de la carrière de Vanessa Paradis, comme le prouvent les chansons provenant des films Un Monstre à Paris d’Éric Bergeron et Maryline de Guillaume Gallienne. Et il se termine avec élégance et émotion, avec le duo Paradis/Jeanne Moreau, lors de l’ouverture du Festival de Cannes 1995 (Le Tourbillon de la vie, la chanson du film Jules et Jim de François Truffaut). © Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz
