Comme pour de nombreux artistes du passé, l'achat d'une anthologie comme Anthology 1956 - 1980 s'avère satisfaisante pour retrouver l'ensemble des tubes de Brenda Lee.
Même si les titres ne sont pas ici remasterisés, les masters originaux se révèlent d'une qualité largement suffisante pour apprécier l'essentiel, la voix unique de Little Miss Dynamite. A l'aise dans tous les répertoires, du rock'n'roll à la country en passant par la pop, Brenda Lee aligne les tubes de la fin des années 50 au milieu des années 60.
« Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree », « Dynamite» ou « I'm Sorry » sont parmi ses tubes les plus connus, sans oublier sa version lumineuse de « Jambalaya» de Hank Williams enregistrée à seulement douze ans. Anthology 1956 - 1980 s'avère un disque indispensable, au moins dans sa première partie, pour qui veut avoir un aperçu de l'une des plus belles voix féminines du rock'n'roll.
