Après le succès de son premier album, on l’attendait au tournant la jeunette Jessie J. Son second opus arrive à point pour confirmer un talent que le public et les professionnels avaient déjà largement détecté dans le premier album de la miss. Alive est un concentré d’énergie qui s’ouvre en donnant le ton avec le jovial It’s My Party, véritable hymne à la fête que l’on pourrait presque attribuer à la chanteuse P!nk tant certaines ressemblances musicales et vocales sont flagrantes. L’album sait passer du rock au R’n’B en faisant également un clin d’œil à des balades qui permettent à la voix de Jessie J de s’exprimer dans un registre où elle excelle (I Miss Her). La diversité des compositions et des sons, ainsi que les invités prestigieux, font de cet album une réussite totale electro/dance.
