The Poppy Girls
After an extensive musical talent search throughout the United Kingdom’s Armed Forces, the Poppy Girls -- comprised of five singers: Charlotte Mellor, Bethany Davey, Alice Milburn, Megan Adams, and Florence Ransom -- first came to prominence when they auditioned and won the chance to perform before the Queen at the Festival of Remembrance in 2013. TV and high-profile live performances followed and a record deal soon materialized. The girls, who all had fathers serving in either the Royal Navy or the Royal Air Force, enjoyed a whirlwind six months following that performance. Their debut single, "The Call (No Need to Say Goodbye)" became a viral hit, harnessing over 200,000 hits on YouTube alone. The single reached the Top Ten on the U.K. singles chart in November 2013.
