Jon Henrik Fjällgren

Jon Henrik Fjällgren was born in Colombia but adopted at an early age by a Sámi family from Sweden, where he learned to be a reindeer herder. He was inspired by the traditional songs of the Sámi people and started singing and joiking in the traditional Sámi style aged 14.

In 2014, he entered and won 'Sweden's Got Talent', singing 'Daniel's Joik', a song inspired by a close friend who had died as a result of complications from diabetes. With the prize money from the competition, Fjällgren set up a charity to help sufferers of diabetes and released studio album 'Goeksegh' (2014). Later in the same year, he took part in the 'Saepmie Welcomes Festival' and sang on the Swedish TV show 'Allsång På Skansen'.

Fjällgren has entered the televised Swedish 'Melodifestivalen' a total of three times. The competition is used to determine the entry for the 'Eurovision Song Contest' each year and he came second in 2015 with the track 'Jag Är Fri'. To mark his entry in the competition, he re-released the album 'Goeksegh' with the inclusion of the track 'Jag Är Fri'. The song reached number eight in the Swedish Singles Chart whilst the album reached number one in the Swedish Albums Chart.

Fjällgren's 2017 entry in the Melodifestivalen 'En Värld Full av Strider (Eatneme Gusnie Jeenh Dåaroeh)' was a duet with fellow Swedish singer Aninia in Sámi and Swedish. The duo finished third in the competition. Fjällgren released a third album in this year containing this song and entitled 'Aatjan Goengere'. This reached number 15 in the Swedish Albums Chart. Fjällgren's third entry in the Melodifestivalen was in 2019 and resulted in him finishing in fourth place. The single was called 'Norrsken' and reached number seven in the Swedish Singles Chart. It featured a more mainstream sound than his previous entries.
