Hubert Daviz
Roberto Perian (born in 1981), also known as Hubert Daviz and Hub Deezy, is a Romanian-German hip-hop producer based in Cologne. Famous for his reclusiveness and almost non-existent social media presence, his music draws inspiration from jazz, easy listening, and ‘90s boom-bap. Perian moved from Romania to Germany when he was just five years old. While still a teenager, he discovered music production software and started crafting his own beats inspired by American beatmakers like Pete Rock and J Dilla. In 2007, he joined the hip-hop collective UpMyAlley alongside fellow producers Cerebral Vortex, Künstler Soosh, and Robot Koch. His full-length debut Proceduri de Rutina, entirely based on Romanian jazz samples, was released in 2010 and was quickly followed by Kaseta (2011), a collaborative effort with Huss und Hodn’s DJ Hulk. In 2015, Perian released Framework, a collection of beats gathered over a period of four years that saw the light via HHV Records. In subsequent years, the accomplished studio maverick teamed up with fellow producer Wun Two for Paseadero (2017) and vaporwavez (2017), and released Sichtexotica V (2020), which expanded upon Perian’s lo-fi stylings and spawned the singles “Goodbye,” “Midnight City Breeze,” and “Inzomnia.”
