Century Palm
Century Palm is a Canadian indie rock band whose brooding, dance-friendly synth pop owes a debt to post-punks Joy Division and Wire, as well as new wave outfits such as Devo. The group formed in Toronto around Andrew Payne (guitar, synthesizer, voice), Paul Lawton (bass, synthesizer, voice), and Jesse Locke (drums, drum machine), all former and current members or sidemen for numerous regional indie acts. They released a self-titled EP in 2014 that also had Alex Hamlyn on guitar and Sarah Ford on synths. A live split tape with Feel Alright, East Coast Tour followed in September 2016 and captured an August show in Halifax. Featuring the lineup of Payne, Lawton, Locke, and Penny Clark (synthesizer, voice), the band's full-length debut, Meet You, arrived on Deranged Records in March of 2017.
