The simplified, less-fussed-over approach taken by Tink and Hitmaka for Heat of the Moment continues on Pillow Talk. Another high-luster set of ballads and slow jams, it's expectedly rich with openhearted musings and uninhibited carnality, yet Tink's expressions here -- finely accentuated by some of her loveliest background vocals -- have a slightly deeper resonance. Solo highlights such as "Switch" (a confrontation alternating between cool and scalding), "Opposite" (bearing an optimistic lilt), and "Goofy" (charmingly shameless) are all seemingly off the cuff with minimal touch-ups. Collaborations with the motley likes of Fabolous, 2 Chainz, Russ, G Herbo, and Toosii are trumped by those with women. Tink is at her casually confessional best on "Drunk Text'n," in harmony with Layton Greene. "Mine," not to be confused with Tink's like-titled G Herbo collaboration from 2017, updates Brandy and Monica's 1998 hit "The Boy Is Mine," and is written and voiced in the spirit of the original.
