Depuis sa disparition le 10 janvier 2016, les archives inédites, essentiellement live, de David Bowie se bousculent au portillon. Enregistré au Starplex Amphitheater de Dallas le 13 octobre 1995 durant la tournée Outside, Ouvrez Le Chien tient son titre des paroles d’All The Madmen qui figurait sur The Man Who Sold The World. Pour ce concert, le Britannique est entouré de ses fidèles d’alors : Carlos Alomar à la guitare rythmique, Reeves Gabrels à la guitare lead, Gail Ann Dorsey à la basse, Zachary Alford à la batterie, Peter Schwartz et Mike Garson aux pianos et synthés. C’est l’époque où Bowie ne cache pas sa fascination pour la scène indus’ emmenée par des groupes comme Nine Inch Nails (qui fait d’ailleurs la première partie de ses concerts), ce qui s’entend, tant dans les solos de guitares bien criards que les rythmiques stakhanovistes ou les nappes de synthés très urbaines. Un univers sonore qu’il plaque sur ses compositions du moment (The Hearts Filthy Lesson, Outside, I Have Not Been to Oxford Town, I'm Deranged) comme sur ses tubes passés (Andy Warhol, Breaking Glass, The Man Who Sold The World, Teenage Wildlife). Il y a une exubérance électrique et rythmique (la batterie très en avant peu parfois fatiguer) dans ce live qui épouse parfaitement les excès dont Bowie était friand.
