“Changer ? Jamais. Tu peux évoluer, ajouter des choses, mais pourquoi tu voudrais changer ? Ça servirait à quoi ?” Liam Howlett, le cerveau de Prodigy, avait été clair en 2015, au moment de la sortie de The Day Is My Enemy, le dernier album du groupe britannique inventeur au début des 90's du big beat, ce mélange fiévreux entre techno, jungle, punk, hip-hop. Et cette nouvelle livraison confirme que le trio ne compte pas dévier de sa ligne directrice, à savoir faire un boucan infernal et composer des morceaux avec l’objectif de tout faire péter sur scène.
Gimmicks de synthés mutants, bruits de moteur, basses qui saignent, intros coup de poing, guitares rentre-dedans : l’écoute d’un album de Prodigy ressemble toujours à une course à travers un zone bombardée. Composé à la do-it-yourself dans des chambres d’hôtel, No Tourists comprend aussi une collaboration avec le duo de rappeurs punk du New Jersey Ho99o9, sur lequel Howlett part au plus profond du hardcore avec un titre en forme d’appel à l’émeute, Fight Fire with Fire. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
