Le titre du troisième album du bassiste et chanteur camerounais Richard Bona, n'est pas anodin ; Munia (The Tale), le « conte », ou la « fable ». Il s'agit bien sûr d'une invitation au voyage que se veut-être l'album, mais aussi d'une référence à cette tradition du sud du Cameroun qu'est la chantefable . Cette tradition dont le but est la sauvegarde et la transmission, sous forme de fable chantée, de la culture collective (arts, mythes, entre autres) est ici stylisée et modernisée, et traverse l'album, un album aux échappées, jazzistiques (Painting a Wish) , fusion et funk (Engingilaye), nombreuses et toujours très réussie. Peut-on du reste parler d'échappées, pour un musicien qui maitrise tous ses genres à la perfection depuis longtemps, les réunissant même parfois en un seul morceau (le très pop, très funk, très jazzy, et en définitive très fusion Balemba Na Bwenba). C'est avec une technique, un contrôle et une élégance hors du commun que Richard Bona se fait fabuliste, nous transportant dans les contrées paisibles, satinées et oniriques du Cameroun.
