Lassé d’attendre un coup de fil de David Gilmour ou Roger Waters pour une éventuelle réformation de Pink Floyd, le batteur Nick Mason, le seul membre à avoir joué sur tous les albums du groupe, a lancé en 2018 le projet Saucerful Of Secrets, du nom du second album des Anglais, qui avaient renvoyé le chanteur Syd Barrett pendant l’enregistrement. Le concept : se faire plaisir en reprenant les tubes de la première période du Floyd, dans une sorte de “tribute band” cinq étoiles. Accompagné du guitariste Gary Kemp du groupe anglais Spandau Ballet et de Guy Pratt (qui avait pris la place de Roger Waters) à la basse et au micro, Mason est parti dans une grande tournée internationale pour “capturer l’esprit” du Floyd avant l’album The Dark Side of the Moon. Etape obligatoire de la tournée : The Roundhouse, splendide salle londonienne où le groupe anglais a donné des concerts mythiques en 1967 et 1971. Et ce double album est tout aussi grandiose, Nick Mason et les siens ne lésinant pas sur les longs passages ultra-psychédéliques dès l’incipit Interstellar Overdrive, suivi d’ailleurs comme un clin d’œil par Astronomy Domine, un autre morceau signé Barrett, dont le spectre hante un disque qui ravira tous les obsédés du Floyd et en mettra plein les yeux aux touristes de passage. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
