Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner became stars at exactly the same time. Or, perhaps more appropriately, the two became a single star. While both had enjoyed success in Broadway productions before, it was with their appearance as the Siamese twins Violet and Daisy Hilton in the premiere of SIDE SHOW that the two were cast into the spotlight of stardom. They made such an impact playing the real-life twins that they jointly received a Tony nomination as Best Leading Actress in a Musical.
Having proved so resoundingly that they indeed make beautiful music together, it's only natural that the two should team up for this album of duets culled from some of Broadway's best musicals. Along with a reprise of the humorous "Stick With Me / Ready to Play" from SIDE SHOW, the collection includes numbers from SWEET CHARITY, A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, and GYPSY. Throughout DUETS, Skinner and Ripley demonstrate the musical chemistry that binds them together.
