Snarls

Ohio's Snarls play an aggressive strain of indie rock that combines lush, melodic dream pop with jagged intensity. After self-releasing their first EP, the Columbus band signed with East Coast indie Take This to Heart, which released their 2020 debut album, Burst. Tours with Louis Tomlinson and Briston Maroney followed, as did a trip to Norway to record their follow-up with producer Chris Walla. With Love, was released in 2024. Snarls formed in Columbus, Ohio while its members were in high school. Singer/guitarist Chlo White met bassist Riley Hall on her first day of school. They soon teamed up with brothers Mick (guitar) and Max Martinez (drums) to complete Snarls' lineup. Their self-titled debut EP was recorded at the studios of Capital University in Columbus and self-released in June 2018. From the start, the band had an affinity for combining punk bite with strong harmonies and melodic sense. They signed with Massachusetts indie Take This to Heart and recorded their full-length debut, Burst, which appeared in March 2020. Burst was well-received and expanded Snarls' audience nationally. A year later, they headed to Washington to work with former Death Cab for Cutie member Chris Walla, who produced 2021's What About Flowers? EP. The band continued to tour over the next two years, during which time they released the 2022 stand-alone single "After You (Samantha's Song)" and played tour dates with U.K. star Louis Tomlinson and American artist Briston Maroney. Working again with Walla, Snarls flew to Norway to record their next album at the producer's home. Working as a trio following Max Martinez's departure, the band expanded on their heavy, tuneful sound with May 2024's vivid sophomore LP, With Love.
