Retox
Born out of increasing frustration with the stagnant pop culture and a burning desire to shake things up, Retox are a hardcore band based out of California. Formed by former Locust members Gabe Serbian and Justin Pearson, as well as Thor Dickey and Michael Crain, Retox evoke a musical fury that hints they may just pull off their lofty goals, merging the raw aggression of early hardcore with twisting technical wizardry. Debuting in 2011 with a self-titled EP, Retox signed up with Mike Patton's Ipecac label, which released the band's first (relatively) full-length album, Ugly Animals, later that year. Epitaph released the band's second album, YPLL, in 2013. Following a split EP with the band Narrows on Pearson's own Three One G label in late 2014, they delivered their third full-length, Beneath California, in early 2015. Gabe Serbian died on April 30, 2022 at the age of 44.
